Kevin de Bruyne sends Man City chiefs Gabriel Jesus message amid Arsenal links

Kevin de Bruyne has explained why he loves playing with Arsenal target Gabriel Jesus in a message that Manchester City executives are sure to acknowledge. It comes at a bad time for the Gunners, who are trying to negotiate a summer move for the Brazilian international.

As previously reported, the Gunners will target two centre-forwards. football.london understands that Jesus and Roma frontman Tammy Abraham are among the shortlisted profiles who could arrive at Emirates Stadium. Jesus in particular remains open to leaving the current Premier League champions, with his representative reportedly holding talks with Edu throughout the past few months.

Arsenal first made enquiries for Jesus in November, with Edu maintaining a close relationship with the player’s agent and the City forward himself. Jesus could get more minutes between now and the end of the season as City look to increase his potential transfer fee, with the Gunners expected to lodge a bid in the region of £35million this summer.

Nevertheless, if Silva’s words are anything to go by, the Manchester-based outfit may be reluctant to sell him for a price in that region, primarily because he’s considered to be a key part of their success: “Since he came here, I’ve had a good relationship with him (Jesus), he plays with so much energy,” he said as he addressed the media in City’s pre-Real Madrid press conference, as cited by The Express. “I’ve never any doubts on his quality. He’s still so young, I hope he can play many times with me because he makes us better.”

City’s bid for Erling Haaland may make proceedings a little easier for the Gunners. As per Sportsmail, City are expected to trigger the 21-year-old striker’s £63million release clause, and if all goes according to plan, what is likely to be a five-year deal should be sealed in the next week or so. The forward would also become the Premier League’s highest-paid player as a financial package of more than £500,000 per week is reportedly on the table.

At 25, Jesus may prefer to be the main man elsewhere at a club like Arsenal as opposed to being a number two choice for the second time in his career, as he was when Sergio Aguero was playing at the Etihad.
