In Khamzat Chimaev’s UFC 279 post-fight press conference interview, he told reporters he “would kill” Nate Diaz if they fought.
At the UFC 279 post-fight press conference, Khamzat Chimaev answered questions regarding his weight cut, his current fame, and his future plans in the UFC. He also had some choice words regarding Nate Diaz and his main event fight against Tony Ferguson.
“Diaz has to thank God he didn’t fight me,” Chimaev told reporters at the post-fight press conference. “If I fight him, like hell, I would kill him; I would be in the jail. So, maybe I have to be happy.”
He also addressed the main event bout between Diaz and Tony Ferguson, his replacement.
“Did you see a real fight?” he asked the media. :Did you see that fight? Did you see, guys, this fight? Did you see how [Diaz and Ferguson] kick? How they punch? How they wrestle? How they grapple? Did you see? The guys are old. I am a young guy. I am the killer.”
Khamzat Chimaev: ‘Nobody is going to say Diaz’s name there. If they say it, we will kill them’
Chimaev says that in his country, no one will dare say Diaz’s name.
“I don’t understand what the people are talking about,” Chimaev said. “He’s a guy from the UFC; he’s home. This is his home. The guys like him. Okay, make that f***ing fight in my country, and you will see. You never will find some guy who will like Diaz there, so nobody is going to say Diaz’s name there. If they say it, we will kill them.”
Chimaev also spoke about his botched weight cut and the adverse reaction of fans due to his missed weight and pre-fight antics.
“You care about that s**t? I don’t care. I care about my family. I care about my career. I care about my money,” Chimaev said. “The people don’t live with me. One day they’re with me; one day they’re not with me. I am a real guy, so I like the people [that are] real, not the fake people going one way, then going the other way.”
