Kia’s Korean head office has revealed first official images and details of the refreshed 2024 Sorento SUV, ahead of domestic sales commencing in mid-August.

In a short release on the company’s Korean website, the company confirms the facelifted fourth-gen Sorento will again be offered in petrol, diesel and hybrid variations in the domestic market with both 2WD and 4WD options.

Further, the company has confirmed new details including the available panoramic curved display incorporating twin 12.3-inch high-resolution displays, running the company’s next-generation infotainment system dubbed ‘ccNC’.

This new infotainment interface will feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation-equipped vehicles in Australia, and will debut Kia Connect remote services for the Sorento nameplate in Australia when it arrives during the fourth quarter of 2023.

Over-the-air (OTA) software updates will also be supported.

As revealed in leaked images earlier today, the Sorento will also pick up a new touch-based control panel for the infotainment and climate control functions, already seen on the all-electric EV6 and EV9, as well as the Niro and Sportage crossovers.

The Korean news release also mentions a fingerprint authentication system, likely a similar feature available in Genesis products where owners can save vehicle settings to their personal driver profile in the vehicle, activated via the fingerprint sensor.

In Korea, the Sorento will offer three interior colours, including a new black/olive brown option, as well as three new exterior colours in Interstellar Grey, Cityscape Green and Volcanic Sand Brown.

Further details will be revealed when the Sorento goes on sale to the Korean public in mid-August. Petrol, diesel and HEV 4WD models will be first off the rank in the domestic market, with HEV 2WD versions to be made available “as soon as the certification process is completed”.

As seen in images first published by Autospy, the updated Sorento receives an EV9-like exterior refresh. Exterior highlights include vertically oriented LED headlights, machine-finished alloy wheels, and tweaked LED tail lights among other minor changes.

In Korea the updated Sorento will be offered with five-, six- and seven-seat configurations. The current Australian-specification Sorento is exclusively offered with seven seats.

So far Kia Australia has only announced it’s expecting the facelifted Sorento range to arrive during the fourth quarter of 2023, and confirmed the infotainment tech updates mentioned further up. It’s understood the stop-sale on Sorento Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models could be lifted with the updated range provided better supply can be secured.

The current Australian-specification Sorento is available with a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol (200kW/332Nm), 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel (148kW/440Nm), 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol-electric hybrid (169kW/350Nm), and a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (195kW/350Nm).
