Kid Cudi Debuts Custom Givenchy Pieces at To the Moon Tour

When it comes to bold fashion moments, Kid Cudi rarely disappoints.

The multi-hyphenate hit the stage this week rocking a head-turning Givenchy fit made specifically for his To the Moon Tour, which blasted off on Aug. 16 in Vancouver. The custom pieces, evidently “remixed” by Cudi himself, included an elongated cardigan knit with “To the Moon” emblazoned on a sleeve and a large Cudder portrait on the back. He also donned a pair of pink pants featuring a jackal lantern basketball pattern.

Cudi shared close-ups of the outfit on social media Saturday, and announced his forthcoming collaboration with Givenchy’s creative director.

“My good friend and genius Matthew Williams let me remix some pieces to make this custom fit for my shows,” he wrote. “We’re doing a special T-shirt to celebrate the tour that drops next month.”

Cudder went on to say he and Williams plan to do an in-store meet-up in NYC around the time of his Sept. 12 Brooklyn show. He has yet to reveal more details about his Givenchy collaboration, but promised fans additional information is “comin soon.”

The Givenchy pieces feature the work of New York-based artist Josh Smith, who began collaborating with Williams in 2021. After meeting through Williams’ girlfriend—Marlene Zwirner, a gallery director at David Zwirner—the two cooked up a range of colorful, handworked pieces that were inspired by Smith’s paintings and ceramic work. The collection delivered everything from crochet sweaters and screen-printed jeans to bioresin bags and baseball caps.

“I went to Josh’s studio and spent time there for a couple of weeks. We hung out, listened to music, he showed me his work and things that inspired him,” Williams told Vogue last October. “I showed him fabrics and materials and projects that I had been inspired by and been dreaming of doing. I love how honest his work is and how obsessive it is to paint the same motif over and over and over again. He has his own way, a really efficient way of working where he’s pulling from the environment around him. It’s so textural and American; that’s something that I really connect with.”

The To the Moon Tour continues Sunday in Oakland, and will include stops in Dallas, Miami, Toronto, and Chicago.
