NEW DELHI: Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth registered a commanding straight game victory over compatriot Sai Praneeth on Thursday to book his place in the quarter-finals of the men’s singles event at the Madrid Masters badminton tournament.
Fifth seed Srikanth defeated the 49th ranked Praneeth 21-15, 21-12 in their men’s singles second round match in Madrid.
The World No. 21 Srikanth will have a tough challenge in the last four stages as he faces the top seed Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.
Nishimoto progressed into the quarter-finals after getting a walkover against France’s Arnaud Merkle in their second round encounter.
Kiran George, Priyanshu Rajawat and Sameer Verma are the other Indian shuttlers in fray in men’s singles.
