Kim Kardashian has finally launched her first podcast focusing on criminal justice reform more than two years after inking an exclusive deal with Spotify.
Audio streaming service Spotify released the first two of the reality star and entrepreneur’s podcast, entitled Kim Kardashian’s The System: The Case of Kevin Keith, on Monday. Six more episodes will be released on the first day of each week thereafter.
The enlightening and informative podcast, which Spotify and Tenderfoot TV have produced, is narrated by billionaire Kim and true-crime producer Lori Rothschild Ansaldi.
Kim tells the story of Ohio man Kevin Keith who has been working tirelessly to prove his innocence after being arrested and charged with three murders back in 1994. After serving some of his time on death row, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland commuted his death sentence in 2010. He is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Speaking to Interview Magazine about her podcast last month, Kim said: “The first season is about a really crazy case where a guy got the death sentence for a triple homicide that happened in Ohio. There are so many twists and turns with how it was handled – or mishandled – and we take the listener along for a journey in search of the truth.”
Keith himself is interviewed for the podcast, with the mother-of-four telling him: “I’m really hopeful for this podcast, just to get your story out there because I think it’s so important for people to understand that our system is so f***ed up.”
Kim and Spotify have also teamed up with two organisations, Color of Change and Calling All Crows, to raise awareness of criminal reform with the podcast. At the start of each episode, there is also an audio disclaimer informing listeners that the podcast “contains adult subject matter including sensitive materials, and is intended for adult consumption only”.
The SKIMS founder and law student has tirelessly fought for prison reform in recent years, and in an episode of The Kardashians earlier this year, she broke down into tears as she spoke with death row inmate Brandon Bernard before his scheduled execution after a judge denied her pleas to have it halted.
In 2018, she used her influence to grant clemency to Alice Marie Johnson, who had been sentenced to life in prison for a non-violent drug offence and had displayed model behaviour, including becoming an ordained minister while incarcerated.
