Kim Kardashian reportedly broke up with Pete Davidson because they were getting too ‘serious’ and she wants to ‘be single and date’

While it was initially reported that Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson split over their busy schedules and long-distance struggles, a new report suggests Kardashian may have had another reason to end things.

According to a source who spoke with Entertainment Tonight,  Kim felt “the spark between” them had “faded” after nine months together. The source added that Pete is “so sweet, but she didn’t feel ready for something serious with him.” 

“They had tons of chemistry, and still do, but she kind of wants to be single and date,” the source continued. ”Kim still adores Pete and will always be friends with him. She still thinks he’s the nicest and sweetest guy in the world and there’s no drama or anything weird between them now.”

Ultimately, what started out as a “fling” quickly spiraled out of control. “She felt like Pete was the extreme opposite of Kanye and it was good for her then,” the source said. “She initially thought it would be a fun fling, but then it got more serious when they were spending so much time together. Kim wasn’t feeling like she was willing to settle down with him just yet.”

This certainly tracks, given the circumstances that led to their romance. Following her tumultuous split from Kayne West, with whom she shares four children, Kim Kardashian admitted she made the first move on Davidson after her Saturday Night Live debut in October 2021 because she was “basically DTF.”

“I did SNL, and then when we kissed in a scene, it was just a vibe,” she said in an episode of The Kardashians. “And I was like, ‘Oh, shit. Maybe I just need to try something different!’” Kardashian was disappointed when Davidson didn’t show up to the after-party, adding, “Everyone was at my after-party—[Pete] does not give me the time of day.”

Of course, Kardashian didn’t give up. “So a few days later, I called the producer at SNL and was like, ‘Hey, do you have Pete’s number? And they were like, ‘Yeah.’” She admitted that she wasn’t expecting to form a relationship with him, but she was intrigued by certain rumors. “I was just thinking, Heard about this BDE, need to get out there.”

Less than a year later, the pair were all over her Insta feed, her name was branded on Davidson’s chest (along with other Kardashian-related tattoos), and they were reportedly planning to move in together. Just last month, Davidson even spoke about “preparing” to become a father.

Life really does come at you fast.
