Kristen Stewart’s knotted bun is the coolest updo for short-haired girls

For Kristen Stewart, dramatic, choppy hairstyles are nothing new. Whether it be chunky ’90s-inspired blonde highlights, copper-coloured strands, or a new look altogether, the actor is not afraid to mix it up and try something new. For those with shoulder-length hair on the hunt for serious hairstyling inspiration, Stewart has recently showcased more options than most of us could ever conceive. Case in point: her most recent and inventive red carpet updo.

For the New York premiere of Spencer, hairstylist Adir Abergel knotted up the actor’s hair in a style that serves equal parts punk-rock and princess. (A fitting choice, seeing as Stewart plays Princess Diana in the film.) Abergel uploaded a series of photos to his Instagram on Thursday, 4 November, captioning the collection, “All knotted up. NYC SPENCER PREMIERE.”

The sectioned knots start at the top of her head and fall down to her neckline. Even better, the style is ace for shorter-haired girls wanting to mix up their look with an intriguing updo as the stacked sections work well on shorter lengths.

From the micro bun to the mini braid, here are 27 clever ways to tie your hair back if it’s super short

Stewart hones in on the punk-rock motif with a shimmering black smoky eye, bold, brown brows, and a rosy pink lip seen in the second and third photo of Abergel’s carousel. I also see a bit of blush contouring, a hyper-trendy makeup technique.

This series of photos taken by her hairstylist — especially the last photo, where Stewart is captured mid-laugh — capture a moment of pure joy. Will she ever get back on Instagram? Who knows. For now, I’ll continue to cheer her on from afar and enjoy my weekend watching Spencer.
