KSI has former David Haye opponent ‘on standby’ if Danis pulls out

Rapper turned boxer KSI has a backup plan if Dillon Danis pulls out of their Wembley clash early next year. Former Davie Haye opponent Joe Fournier, aged 39, is already on the fight card against Tony Christodoulou for the January 14 contest and will step up if former MMA star Danis makes his excuses after refusing to attend their pre-fight press conference on Thursday.

Conor McGregor’s old training partner Danis was involved in an explosive face-to-face war of words with KSI at the YouTubers Misfits Boxing press conference last month. New York fighter Danis is set to make his boxing debut after a short MMA career which has seen him take two wins – his last coming in 2019.

KSI faced a huge problem at Wembley earlier this year when he was scheduled to face Alex Wassabi for his second professional bout. However, when Wassabi suffered concussion KSI ended up drafting in Swarmz and Luis Alcaraz Pineda to fight him in the same night.

KSI knocked out both opponents and this time is prepared for the possibility of Danis pulling out of their bout after the American refused to take a seven-hour flight from New York to London for their pre-fight press conference. Boxer and businessman Fournier has an unbeaten 9-0 professional boxing record but did lose an exhibition by unanimous decision against David Haye last year.

Fournier was interviewed by Fred Talks Fighting while training in Miami and was relaxing with a tequila in his hand. “The key of life is to be efficient so I’m enjoying my life while doing enough training to beat these guys, which is very little,” he said.

“I go to the gym in the morning and get a little sweat on, for me I’m in fat camp and just trying to make weight. Truly I’m not doing much training, just hitting the bag a bit and doing some cool videos for Instagram and just hanging out.
