KSI believes he has what it takes to become the first man ever to knock out Floyd Mayweather. The British YouTube star is close to getting a fight over the line with Tommy Fury this year but is also keen on throwing down with one of the sport’s greatest boxers as well.
“Honestly I think I’d knock him out,” said KSI when speaking about Mayweather with The Sidemen.
“I honestly think I have a great chance at beating him. Mayweather, he’s a good fighter, I just think I’ll have the timing on him. Obviously, in his prime I would have no chance.”
Despite admitting that he would have ‘no chance’ against a prime Mayweather, fans aren’t buying KSI’s claims and came out in their masses to bash the content creator. “You still would have no chance my dawg, like the confidence though,” wrote one supporter (@dadonk4_).
“Floyd will have enough timing to beat KSI when he’s 90,” quipped another (@rrcdan). A third (@NoelDogz) tweeted: “I don’t think he even touches Floyd. If Floyd takes it seriously he could probably finish it in the first couple rounds. These guys don’t understand how good he is. Defensively he’s probably the best, his head movement is impeccable.”
Before a fight with Mayweather can even be considered though KSI must get through Fury first. The pair are close to agreeing terms for a clash at the back end of the year, after which the winner is expected to face Jake Paul.
Fury defeated Paul back in August under the beating Saudi Arabian sun to finally settle the score with his fierce rival after two failed attempts to make it happen in the past. Paul inserted a rematch clause into their contract and is aiming to run the fight back in February.
In the meantime, he is preparing to face UFC icon Nate Diaz on August 5 at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas. The Problem Child opens up as the odds on favourite against his veteran foe, who is making his professional boxing debut.
