KSI reveals truth over controversial elbow that knocked out Joe Fournier

KSI tagged Fournier with a big right hand in the second round of their exhibition contest. He missed the target with a follow-up right hook and instead made contact with his elbow, with the shot catching his opponent square on the chin and sending him to the mat.

Fournier was unable to meet the referee’s count with the former light-heavyweight contender since vowing to file an official complaint to the boxing commission which sanctioned Saturday’s fight.

KSI initially denied catching his fellow Briton with an elbow but in a statement released on Sunday, admitted Fournier was hit by ‘unintentional contact with my forearm.’

But the Misfits boxer insists the circumstances of the fight have ‘tainted’ an ‘inevitable’ victory, believing Fournier was already on his way to defeat.

‘I worked very hard for this fight and had an intense and gruelling camp,’ KSI wrote.

‘There is no better feeling than being in that ring and having my hand raised in front of my loyal and amazing fans who I appreciate so much.

‘Unfortunately the victory which was inevitable no matter what, is tarnished and I hate that. It sucks.

‘After landing my overhand he was pretty much out on his feet and I went for a short right hook as Joe clinched me and fell into me.

‘I landed that hook and my glove made contact but appears to have been followed by unintentional contact with my forearm.

‘I’m gutted that it is not as clean a win as I wanted and it feels like it diminishes my hard work with my trainers.

‘Either way I hope you enjoyed the show and appreciate the support. Sorry to all the fans disappointed with it. No one is more so than me.’
