Kylian Mbappe turns down Al Hilal deal? What it means for PSG and other clubs

Mbappe’s club Paris St Germain gave permission to the Saudi club to speak with the France striker over personal terms after receiving a £259 million bid for the player in writing.

Al Hilal’s bid is by far the biggest in football history and the package they were offering the France striker albeit for just a single year was humongous.

But, according to French outlet L’Equipe, Mbappe and his team have refused to enter into any discussions with the Saudi club and he has never considered the option.

Al Hilal were ready to pay Mbappe a gigantic €700 million salary per year, but the France international is reportedly not interested in it.

PSG have not confirmed the reports that Mbappe has snubbed Al Hilal’s approach, but are understood to be convinced that Mbappe has already agreed a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer.

And amid the current reports of the 24-year-old turning down Al Hilal contract, it is a body blow for PSG.

What can PSG do now to sell Mbappe?

They are on the backfoot here if Mbappe decides to stay at the club and see his contract out. In that case, PSG may well be forced to lose him for free next season. But the only good thing for them will be if a bidding war comes from other approachable European clubs.

With as many as six European clubs interested to bring Mbappe at their club, it is to be seen if any club makes a bid for the Frenchman. Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan are interested but it is to be seen if they will be able to tie him down on a single-year deal given Mbappe’s reported agreement with Real Madrid.

There is also a loan option for Mbappe and PSG may exercise that with a big loan fee, at least that would recoup some fraction of the money they would have originally wanted from the Mbappe deal.
