Remakes and adaptations have become quite a norm in the Hindi Film industry especially in the last few years. Some of them do wonders at the box office while some fizzle out upon their release. However, when a renowned and valued name like Aamir Khan gets attached to one such project, one can’t help but expect the best from it, and those were the same expectations that the audiences had when the actor announced he was officially remaking the 1994 Oscar winning film Forrest Gump. Titled Laal Singh Chaddha, the remake sees Aamir stepping into Tom Hanks’ shoes in the lead role that got Hanks an Oscar for Best Actor and if the trailer is something to go by, this one is going to be one special ride.
Before even talking about the trailer, the actor’s strategy to unveil it during one of the biggest sporting event in India, the IPL finals, should be commended as this plan is surely out of the park and out of the box. As for the Laal Singh Chaddha trailer, it depicts the extraordinary journey of this simple man from Punjab named Laal. A boy who was declared less than normal at a young age, both physically and mentally, but he overcomes it all to make a remarkable life that is followed by many. To be saying more about it would be a disservice to the story but the trailer does show that Aamir is in full form and he has got the character just right. Kareena is also just shining in each frame that she is a part of and her scenes with Aamir remind of the 3 Idiot days. Mona is as usual charming on screen while Chaitanya has a spark that will surely be seen a lot in Hindi films in the years to come.

Apart from Aamir in the lead, the film also features Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya, thus also marking the latter’s Hindi film debut with it. Prior to the trailer, two songs from the film– Kahani and Main Ki Karan– had been released in the last one month and both of them have been received amidst much love and appreciation. Laal Singh Chaddha is directed by Advait Chandan with its screenplay by Eric Roth, and its Indian adaptation by Atul Kulkarni. It is produced by Aamir, Kiran Rao and Viacom 18 Studios and Pritam has composed the music for it with lyrics from Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film is slated to release theatrically on August 11, 2022.
