Lady Kitty Spencer, 32, and her fashion tycoon husband Michael Lewis, 64, tied the knot on July 24, 2021, at the Villa Aldo Brandini in Rome.
Kitty is the daughter of Earl Charles Spencer, 59, and his first wife Victoria Aitken, 58. Charles’s older sister was the late Princess Diana, making Kitty her niece.
Diana, Princess of Wales was a fashion inspiration all over the world, popularising short pixie haircuts, chic Chanel suits and dazzling Catherine Walker dresses.
Her 32-year-old niece is a sartorial expert in her own right, as she is the spokesmodel for Bulgari and also Dolce & Gabbana.
Style expert Danielle Rogers-Clark spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to explain whether Kitty is carrying on Diana’s style legacy or not.
She claimed: “Princess Diana wasn’t known to wear Dolce and Gabbana. In the 1990s the iconic Dolce looks were a little risqué for a Princess.
“For instance, there was the beaded bra worn by Madonna in 1993 on her Girlie Show world tour. Diana, on the other hand, favoured the more preppy Ralph Lauren style and was incredibly brand loyal to her close friend Gianni Versace during that period.
“Being a member of the aristocracy but not strictly a royal allows Lady Kitty much more freedom to wear what she wants.
“Free from the constraints of royal fashion protocol, etiquette that includes weighted down skirts to avoid embarrassment caused by a pesky gust of wind, steering clear of bright nail polish and no revealing styles or bare legs, Kitty has the freedom to flaunt the low necklines and the mini dress without restrictions on colours or the worry of being seen to be upstaging more senior members of the family.”
Ms Rogers-Clark elaborated on Lady Kitty’s wedding style from two years ago: “Lady Kitty Spencer’s multiple wedding dresses were the antithesis of the low-key wedding vibes of a post-coronavirus-era. Five stunning Dolce and Gabbana exclusively designed handcrafted gowns were worn throughout the spectacularly glamorous Italian wedding.
“Kicking off the celebrations the night before the wedding was the beautiful baby blue tulle embroidered gown with a matching cape. Kitty ended the third day with a green and white embroidered tulle embodying elegance and glamour.
“For the main event, as a global ambassador for the brand, in true aristocracy fashion Lady Kitty opted for a Grace Kelly-esque Victorian-influenced lace high-necked gown, with a traditional veil and train.
“The long train was a nod to her late aunt Princess Diana’s iconic wedding dress. The intricate lace detail stylishly created a look that was both demure and alluring.
“The real showstopper for me was the off-the-shoulder silk evening gown adorned with flowers and crystals. The breathtakingly gorgeous hand-painted roses on the full skirt epitomised the societal beauty’s English heritage and her love of the Italian location of the wedding, a feminine and glamorous classic Dolce look.
“Lady Kitty’s vivacious personality showed through when she changed for the third time into the gold and silver metallic mini dress. This dazzling beaded number was just so fabulously appropriate for the young bride to hit the dancefloor in.”
Style expert Molly Elizabeth Agnew, the founder of Eternal Goddess also spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about Lady Kitty’s taste in fashion.
She commented: “Lady Kitty Spencer’s world-famous aunt was associated with many high fashion brands during her years in the spotlight including Chanel and, post-divorce, Dior.
“However, the late Princess was never seen in public wearing a piece from Dolce & Gabbana and the brand’s only real link to her is via the ambassadorship of Kitty Spencer.
“It is, however, very fair to say that since her untimely death, high fashion houses have taken inspiration from her much-adored style, most recently seen in the Jacquemus FW23 collection.
“Having five custom-created wedding gowns, even as a member of the nobility, is somewhat excessive. However, each alta moda gown created by Dolce & Gabbana featured perfect tailoring allowing the bride to shine.
“Her main gown, a Victorian-inspired lace extravaganza, was the real show stopper of the Roman weekend events. Much like her aunt’s gown, Kitty Spencer opted for a full skirt with a romantic train and cathedral-length veil.”
