Lager than life Abbie Chatfield launches new beer line

Social media darling Abbie Chatfield is a radio host, television personality, reality TV show winner, Hottest 100 contender, clothing designer and now she can add beer brewer to her list of credentials.

Her collaboration with Spill Easy Going Lager went live today and Abbie fans were delighted.

Bedecked in a mullet and a high vis – Chatfield channelled a cross between a thirsty tradie and Charlene from Neighbours in the promo.

“That’s my kind of a beer,” a masculine voice says as a hand reaches for a can of the beer.

“Yeah it’s also my kind of beer,” Chatfield replies cheekily.

Chatfield worked with Carlton & United to develop the low-carb, low-calorie beer.

However, the low-carb, low-calorie element has attracted criticism from fans as Chatfield is notoriously anti-diet culture and body positive.

“Genuinely love what you do on so many levels but the emphasis on the calories and the ‘VERY’ low carbs is a miss for me,” gym owner Schae Zarew wrote.

Chatfield was quick to wash her hands of the decision to market the beer as a diet product.

“Hey! I TOTALLY agree,” she wrote. “There are so many people involved in the making of this beer, and that part of the packaging was NOT approved by me. We have lots of people and teams working. I already have flagged it with the team who made the packaging, and it’s not going to be on the next drop. Like I said, I never approved this to be a “selling point” as I do it want to add to diet culture and to me it is irrelevant. Calorie labelling needs to be on the back as a nutritional thing but I never ever approved it as a marketing scheme. This was a result of rushed packaging that didn’t go through the approval process from me. So, yes, agree and I’m already changing it!!!!”
