Both the sides are tied on four points but Lahore are ahead by the virtue of net run rate while Peshawar have also played a match more and come to the game after losing to Islamabad United last Thursday.
LAH vs PES injury update, key players
Lahore Qalandars injury update, key players in PSL 2023
Lahore Qalandars have no new injury concerns since Liam Dawson was ruled out last week while Rashid Khan have joined forces earlier this week.
The Afghan, an all-rounder in his own rights, bowled a spell of 1/17 (4 overs) and played a cameo 11 runs from 10 balls as Lahore made the best out of his presence against Quetta Gladiators.
Lahore Qalandars’ batting-order is yet to find a star performer but the entire of batting line-up has been in good touch. Opener Fakhaz Zaman, who scored 66 two innings ago, scored 14-ball 22 in a 49-run stand with Mirza Tahir Baig, who scored 31 runs after scoring 55 a match ago.
Kamran Ghulam, who scored 23 in the last game, played a knock of 17-ball 21 before wasting another good start while overseas batter Shai Hope found form with a 32-ball 47 after scoring just a solitary run.
Sikandar Raza (32 off 16) and Hussain Talat (26 off 13) proved their credentials in the slog overs yet again.
Lahore bowlers find wicket-taking form
Among bowlers, skipper Shaheen Afridi finally picked wickets in bunch (3/22) in the last game to take his tally to five dismissals in three games. Haris Rauf, however, continues to be ineffective as he gave away 115 runs in his last 11 overs.
Zaman Khan, who took a wicket each in last two games, went wicketless against Gladiators but was economical with 18 runs in four overs. David Wiese finally turned effective with the ball as the Namibian bowled a 3/22 spell in the win while Sikandar Raza picked a wicket in the single over he bowled.
Peshawar Zalmi injury update, key players
Peshawar Zalmi have no new injury update as well and will be looking to get back to winning ways. They have less to worry about as far as their top-order is concerned as Babar Azam scored his second half-century this PSL with a knock of 75. His partner Mohammad Haris scored another 40 and has been batting at a strike rate of 186.21. However, there’s a lot of concern regarding the rest of the batting order.
Saim Ayub’s form has dropped on the other hand with a disappointing display of 3 and 0 after scoring 53. The same is true for Tom Kohler Cadmore, whose bat has completely gone silent since scoring 92 in the first game as he managed just 12 runs in three innings since then.
Rovaman Powell, who scored 36 and 23 in the last two innings, had an off-day with a duck. James Neesham (6) and Dasun Shanaka (11) have been entrusted with the role of finishers but failed to get the Zalmi innings back on track in a batting-order collapse. Neesham, however, starred in the match before it and has taken four wickets in as many games.
There’s concern regarding Zalmi’s bowling as well with senior pacer Wahab Riaz going wicket-less in another game while conceding 33 runs in three overs. Arshad Iqbal proved expensive in another game as he gave away 38 runs for a wicket.
Leg-spinner Usman Qadir, who took 2/26 in the last game, went for 50 runs in four overs and took just a wicket.
