Former second-round NBA Draft pick Max Christie is going to have to hope that his Summer League performance is enough to solidify his spot on the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster because it appears he’s going to be out for a while.

According to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers have said that Christie sustained a right hip strain in Wednesday’s game. He is currently considered “day-to-day.”

Christie put up some monster numbers in the Summer League. He averaged nearly 20 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 55-percent from three and 96.8-percent of his free throws.

Not bad for a player who’s only 20 years old and with only 41 games of NBA experience under his belt.

Fans seem convinced that Max Christie has secured his roster spot. The bigger question now will be figuring out how to give him minutes.

In the meantime though, Christie’s absence will pave the way for someone else to get some valuable Summer League minutes.
