The Los Angeles Lakers are making some final tweaks and changes to their roster before the 2023-24 NBA season, and the son of an NBA legend got caught in the crossfire.
In a press release on Tuesday, the Lakers announced the the release of three players: forward Vincent Valerio-Bodon, guard Damion Baugh and guard Scotty Pippen Jr.
Pippen is of course the son of Hall of Fame forward Scottie Pippen, who won six NBA championships alongside Michael Jordan on the Chicago Bulls. He went undrafted out of Vanderbilt in 2022 and signed with the Lakers.
As a rookie in the 2022-23 season, Pippen appeared in six games and finished the season with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists.

All three players had been signed to the team back in September.
Vincent Valerio-Bodon was an undrafted rookie from Hungary, while Damion Bough went undrafted out of TCU.
Valerio-Bodon had two rebounds and one block in one preseason game, while Baugh had one rebound in his sole preseason appearance.
There’s still time for all three players to find new teams ahead of the 2023-24 season, but it’s possible that the NBA won’t be where they hang their hats this coming season.
