LeBron James will contemplate his future after the Denver Nuggets finished a Western Conference Finals sweep over his Los Angeles Lakers.
Following Game 4’s loss, James said he’s “got a lot to think about” before returning for a 21st season. When speaking to reporters Tuesday,
per Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka said he and head coach Darvin Ham will talk to James in the next few days.
“LeBron has given as much to the game of basketball as anyone who’s ever played,” Pelinka said. “When you do that, you earn the right to decide if you want to give more … Obviously, our hope would be that his career continues, but we just want to give him the time to have that inflection point and support him along the way in everything he does.”

Ham joked that he also felt like retiring following Monday’s 113-11 loss. The Lakers led by 15 at halftime before getting outscored by 20 in the third quarter.
James played all 48 minutes, amassing 40 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. He averaged 24.5 points, 9.9 boards, and 6.5 assists throughout the playoffs.
LeBron passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time scoring leader this season. With four MVPs and four championships, the 38-year-old has nothing left to prove, and he told reporters he doesn’t “get a kick” out of making the conference finals at this stage of his career.
Yet he’s still playing at a high level, so the Lakers will certainly hope James sticks around for the final two years of his contract.
