The Lakers’ backcourt will look a bit different next season.
On Thursday, the Lakers declined shooting guard Malik Beasley’s $16.5 million team option for the 2023-24 season. That means he’ll be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Additionally, the Lakers waived guard Shaquille Harrison. He signed with the Lakers towards the end of the regular season.
Prior to joining the Lakers in April, Harrison had stints with the Suns, Bulls, Jazz, Nuggets, Nets and Trail Blazers.
In 180 career games, Harrison has averaged 5.3 points and 1.7 assists on 43.5 percent shooting from the field.
The Lakers have also waived guard Shaquille Harrison, the team announced Thursday.

While the Lakers seem ready to move on from Beasley and Harrison in the backcourt, it’s been heavily reported that general manager Rob Pelinka wants to retain restricted free agent Austin Reaves.
With LeBron James nearing the end of his illustrious NBA career, the Lakers need to make sure they maximize their roster’s potential in free agency.
