After failing to make the postseason and firing Frank Vogel, the Los Angeles Lakers are on the hunt for the organization’s next head coach this offseason.
According to a report from NBA insider Shams Charania on Wednesday, the Lakers have requested to interview Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin for their head coaching vacancy.
Griffin is now one of two known candidates for the Lakers’ job, joining Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham.
Griffin spent nine seasons as a player in the NBA, suiting up for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls and Seattle Supersonics.
The 47-year-old coach been an assistant in the NBA since 2008, taking the sideline for Milwaukee, Chicago, Orlando, Oklahoma City and most recently Toronto. He was a member of Nick Nurse’s staff when the Raptors claimed an NBA title in 2019.
“Expect the Lakers to take a patient, diligent approach to this coaching search,” Charania reports.
