Fresh off capturing a championship with the Denver Nuggets, Bruce Brown is reportedly drawing attention from a recent opponent.
According to Mike Singer of the Denver Post, the Los Angeles Lakers have “significant interest” in signing Brown. The 26-year-old became a free agent after declining his $6.8 million player option.
Singer noted that the Lakers can offer the full mid-level exception for $12.3 million per year, more than the $7.8 million Denver can give.
One team with significant interest in signing Bruce Brown away from Denver is the Los Angeles Lakers, multiple sources told @denverpost.
The Lakers could offer him the full MLE ($12.3M annually). Nuggets can only offer up to $7.8M this year.

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Conner added that the Lakers also have a “complicated path” to freeing up more money to offer Brown.
Brown joined Denver last offseason after two seasons with the Detroit Pistons and two with the Brooklyn Nets. He averaged a career-high 11.5 points per game with a 48.3 field-goal percentage, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.
The former second-round pick registered 12.0 points per game during Denver’s title run. That includes a breakout NBA Finals performance in which Brown went 8-of-11 for 21 points in a Game 4 win over the Miami Heat.
Per Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers have “strongly considered” using their full MLE on Brown, who’s “definitely the kind of player they’d want.” Brown shot 52.8 percent (19-of-36) during Denver’s Western Conference Finals sweep over the Lakers, so they got an up-close look at what the two-way player can provide to a championship team.
