Latest ASUS ROG Ally Now Features Gyroscope Control

0

The ASUS ROG Ally has been out on the market for half a year now but the console’s parent company is still far from done with its update for the gaming handheld. As of the very end of last month, the PC brand rolled out another update, giving the console a plethora of new features and enhancements.

Among its laundry list of updates and improvements, ASUS has finally added Gyroscopic Controls and Calibration Settings to the ROG Ally. If you’re wondering why this is mildly exciting, especially for this writer, the only other console before this implementation was the Steam Deck. With the new Gyroscope Control, you can essentially use the entirety of the gaming handheld as your aiming reticule, simply by tilting it accordingly. That said, and as pointed out by ROG Global’s presentation, you’ll need to enable it on a game-by-game basis, which you access via the Armoury Crate SE’s Game Library.

Another new feature that was added to the ROG Ally is a joystick Response Curve. This is yet another long-awaited update, given how sensitive the joysticks on the console are. Throughout our review process, our writer actually found himself having some trouble playing FPS titles initially, primarily because of just how excessive the right joystick – the stick that governs your character’s POV – would swing wildly from one side to another. It is a small feature update by comparison, but a welcome Quality of Life (QOL) update nevertheless.

Other QOL features and enhancements include an option to toggle CPU Boost in the Eco Assist settings, a new AMD Advanced Graphics Options in the ROG Ally’s GPU Operating Mode settings, the ability to share captured images and videos directly to Discord and TikTok, and an updated real-time monitor overlay.

You can read the list of updates and enhancements on the official ROG forums, but we’ve also embedded the official ROG Global video, if you’d rather listen to the discussion of said updates.
