Latin rockers Maná announce open-ended residency at the Forum in Inglewood

In 2019, Mexican rock icons Maná sold out seven nights at the Forum as part of the 35-stop “Rayando El Sol” tour, and in 2022 the band will basically move into the Inglewood venue until they get kicked out.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, via ticketmaster.com, for the band’s just-announced residency at the 17,500-person capacity Forum with four shows taking place on March 18-19 and April 22-23. Other shows are expected to be added until, well, fans stop buying tickets.

“While other artists are doing Las Vegas, we said, ‘Hey, we got to do something different, so let’s do Los Angeles,” Maná drummer Alex González said during a telephone interview last week.

“The idea of this residency is that we’re going to start with four shows first but we’ll continue opening them up as long as the fans want to see us play,” he said.

And there’s a good chance members of Maná will need to change their forwarding address to Inglewood because unlike the “Rayando El Sol” tour, the Forum shows will be the band’s only live U.S. performances in 2022, González said.

“We really want to give the fans are great time, people are really excited to go back to concerts,” he said.

Maná, which also features singer Fher Olvera, guitarist Sergio Vallín and bassist Juan Calleros, has sold more than 40 million records and won four Grammy Awards, nine Latin Grammy Awards and have sold out 11 shows at the Forum throughout their career so far.

The band, which formed in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1986, cultivated a strong fanbase drawn to their Spanish language mix of danceable rock, love songs and political tunes that include hit songs such as “Rayando el Sol,” “Oye Mi Amor” and “Labios Compartidos.”
