Fans have demanded Law and Order: Special Victims Unit to wrap up its storyline with Tonie Churlish (played by Jasmine Batchelor) after her latest case with Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano).
Some viewers are even concerned the pair could spark a romance despite the fact Churlish helped expose the detective’s connection with the cartel earlier in the season.
In this week’s episode, Bend the Law, Churlish helps Velasco track down his old friend who actually committed the murder he was accused of.
Unfortunately, the investigation proved tiring for some fans who were desperate for SVU to shift focus back to Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).
SVU fan @HopeInspire fumed: “Why is Officer Churlish still in Manhattan?

“It’s time to bounce her annoying behind back to the Bronx. Get rid of her.”
@WonderGoddess51 said: “I really hate this storyline with Velasco. Get rid of Churlish.”
“My poor baby Velasco being forced to go on a road trip with that b***h Churlish who tried to ruin his career for no reason by illegally recording him and facing absolutely no punishment for it,” @DreadfulxIves18 tweeted.
They then added: “That could’ve been such a bonding road trip for Velascy, but no.
“Instead I had to see Churlish with a stick up her a** and see my baby Velasco be uncomfortable around the nuisance that tried to ruin his career for no reason.”
And @PhuckWitMe2 said: “They introduced Churlish in a terrible way as a snitch and I just can’t ever care for her on this show.
“There’s no tying up this storyline and making Velasco friendly with her to make her likable.”
However, Kabriel Ancar speculated: “Okay guys this may be an unpopular opinion but Churlish and Velasco should get together…
“I love that they got along and had each other’s backs and that Girl Scout merit badge was very sweet.”
And @bleuangel88 asked: “So like will Churlish and Velasco end up hooking up or something?
“Because the enemies to lovers/good girl/bad boy opposites attract with a dash of love triangle potential with them is…”
Certain viewers were definitely intrigued by the possibility of Churlish staying on board and getting together with the troubled detective.
On the other hand, would her romance with Velasco ever match up to Benson’s iconic will-they-won’t-they with Organized Crime and SVU favourite Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni)?
Law and Order: SVU season 24 continues Thursdays on NBC in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
