A new leak claims that the more expensive Asus ROG Ally model will retail at $700, placing the price point firmly within Steam Deck striking range. This model will include the AMD Z1 Extreme chip, 16GB RAM, and a 512 SSD. If the leak proves true, this model will be only $51 more expensive than the equivalent 512GB Steam Deck.

The information has been leaked several times, via a Best Buy screenshot from Wickedkhumz, a leak from SnoopyTech, and a Verge report based on data from gadget leaker Roland Quandt. Some of the leaks include more specifications. The ROG Ally will measure 11.02 inches wide, 4.37 inches tall, and 0.83 inches deep and will weigh 1.34 pounds if this data proves accurate. The Verge also reported that the feature list includes an IPS screen shielded by Gorilla Glass DXC and the ability to upgrade the M.2 2230 SSD by unscrewing only one screw. Additionally, the Ally will reportedly charge from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes from 0-50 percent in a half-an-hour with the included charging brick.

AMD recently announced the Z1 processor series, which will power the Asus ROG Ally, which–based on these specs and reported price–could be a serious competitor to the Steam Deck. There will be more than one model of the Ally available, with this reported $700 version being equipped with the higher-end Z1 Extreme chip. It is currently unknown what the ROG Ally model with the standard Z1 chip will cost. Asus will announce more information about the ROG Ally on May 11.
