Plenty of movies have a strong claim for the best sports film of all time. Unfortunately for LeBron James, Shooting Stars probably isn’t one of them.
In a video for Uninterrupted, a company founded by James, Josiah Johnson asked people on the streets of Hollywood to name their favorite sports movie. LeBron joined the fun by giving his biased choice.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar responded to the Twitter post with a GIF from Shooting Stars, a movie about his high school basketball days.

Released on Peacock last month, Shooting Stars has a 6.5 rating on IMDB and a 55 percent approval rating among Rotten Tomatoes reviewers. Audiences gave it a more favorable, but still unspectacular 67 percent score.
That’s still better than LeBron’s Space Jam reprisal, which only a quarter of Rotten Tomatoes reviewers liked.
To be fair, the video contained some stranger selections. While Waterboy and He Got Game received recognition, one person picked Titanic. Someone dressed as Freddy Krueger chose a documentary about Mike Tyson.
James used the moment as an opportunity to promote his new movie. Perhaps viewers should at least give Shooting Stars a chance before immediately dismissing its place among other beloved classics.
