Following the Lakers’ playoff exit on Monday night, LeBron James told reporters that he’s not sure if he’ll play basketball next season.
“I got a lot to think about,” James said. “Just personally, with me moving forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about.”
Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT said retirement is on the table for James.
James has two years, $97 million remaining on his contract with the Lakers. The final year of his deal is a player option.

James just wrapped up his 20th season in the NBA. Earlier this year, he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the league’s all-time leading scorer.
Although the Lakers lost to the Nuggets on Monday night, James turned back the clock with a vintage 40-point performance.
The Lakers only have six players on their roster for the 2023-24 season. If James returns for another run in Los Angeles, he could have a talented supporting cast around him.
