An interesting beef emerged during this past NBA postseason.
Denver Nuggets head coach Mike Malone called out the media coverage of the Los Angeles Lakers on multiple occasions as his team swept LeBron James’ team in the Western Conference Finals.
According to recent reports from Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, James is annoyed by these complaints from Malone and plans on using them as motivation heading into this coming NBA season.
“In conversations with people…I can tell you that LeBron was very pissed with what Michael Malone said about him, and from folks I have spoken with, that he is one of the many motivators going into this season,” Robinson reports.
“You win Game 1 of the [Western Conference Finals], and all everybody talked about was the Lakers,” Malone said after his team’s Game 2 WCF win. “Let’s be honest, that was the national narrative, was, ‘Hey the Lakers are fine. They’re down 1-0 but they’ve figured something out.’ No one talked about Nikola just had a historic performance.”
Given the Nuggets’ dominant run to this year’s NBA title, it appears LeBron and the Lakers are going to have to go through Malone’s team if they want to reach their ultimate goal in 2023-24.
