Over the past few days, Nuggets coach Michael Malone and Lakers star LeBron James have been exchanging jabs from a distance.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” this week, Malone mocked James’ cryptic comments about retirement at the end of the Lakers’ season.
“Speaking of the Lakers, this is breaking news, I’m thinking about retiring,” Malone joked.
James would then fire back at Malone on Instagram just a few days later.
“In Europe for the last past few weeks minding my business and I hear I’m on your mind that much huh??? I mean I guess I see why. But Wave the flag on these lames!! Please make being player cool again cause the lame machine is at an all-time high,” James wrote. “Enjoy your light but just know I’m the SUN. I stay on forever!”
Interestingly enough, there wasn’t always bad blood between James and Malone.
In fact, James used to consider Malone a “good friend” of his.
“A good friend of mine got fired in Sacramento,” James said in 2015. “[The Kings] didn’t know what they were doing with Mike Malone.
"A good friend of mine got fired in Sacramento. (The Kings) didn't know what they were doing with Mike Malone," – LeBron James said.

We’re not entirely sure what happened, but clearly their relationship has changed.
Perhaps James and Malone will have a heart-to-heart this offseason to settle their differences.
