LeBron James is having trouble believing he’s at the centre of a brouhaha with Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.
After the Los Angeles Lakers star was caught on a hot mic telling his teammate Anthony Davis he “didn’t like the ending” of the Netflix hit, Dong-hyuk fired back at the basketball great.
“That’s my ending,” the South Korean film director responded . “If he has his own that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending.’”
The feud began when James and Davis spoke briefly at a press conference as the two crossed paths.
“I did finish it,” James says. “You finish it? You watched it? You done? Yeah, I didn’t like the ending though. I know they start it off with a Season 2, but, like, get on the f—ing flight and go see your daughter, bro. Like, what are you doing?

In the Korean-language series, written and directed by Hwang, hundreds of debt-ridden people sign up to compete for a chance to win millions under mysterious circumstances. One of the players is Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), a divorced man who lives with his elderly mother, rarely sees his 10-year-old daughter and, thanks to a gambling addiction, owes hundreds of thousands to loan sharks.

The show concludes with the Gi-hun choosing not to return to this daughter after winning the deadly contest.
After hearing James’ criticism, Hwang took a dig at the NBA superstar’s latest movie telling The Guardian , “Have you seen Space Jam 2 ? I’m very thankful he watched the whole series. But I wouldn’t change my ending.”
When James learned about Hwang’s response, he tweeted , “This can’t be real right??!! I hope not,” adding a series of crying-laughing emojis.

Earlier this month, Netflix revealed Squid Game had become the streamer’s most popular title ever .
“ Squid Game has officially reached 111 million fans — making it our biggest series launch ever!” the company posted on Twitter.
But in his interview with The Guardian , Hwang said the show’s popularity doesn’t mean the show made him wealthy.
“I’m not that rich. But I do have enough. I have enough to put food on the table. And it’s not like Netflix is paying me a bonus. Netflix paid me according to the original contract.”
