LeBron James speaks out on 18-year-old son Bronny’s sudden cardiac arrest – details

LeBron James and his family are by his son’s side following his trip to the hospital after a medical emergency on Monday.

The NBA legend’s eldest son, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., 18, who he shares with wife Savannah James, was in basketball practice on Monday when he suffered from cardiac arrest.

Bronny, an incoming freshman at the University of Southern California and a rising basketball star, is already in stable condition following the incident.

In a statement on behalf of the James family, a spokesperson said: “Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” adding: “Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU.”

LeBron and his wife have two other children, son Bryce Maximus, 16, and daughter Zhuri Nova, eight.

Bronny is following in his father’s footsteps, and LeBron has previously declared he will not retire until he gets to play with his son on the court when both are part of the NBA.

In ESPN’s recruiting rankings, the 18-year-old, who recently graduated from Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, was named the No. 20 player in the country by the sports organization, and a McDonald’s All-American.

“I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny,” LeBron told ESPN in January.

He recently had his three kids and his wife by his side at the ESPYs, where he was honored with the best record-breaking performance award after he broke the NBA’s all-time scoring record in February, an honor previously held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for 39 years.

During his emotional speech, he noted that it’s seeing his two sons get to interact with his team and coaches that “brings me back every year.”

He said: “I see those kids and it brings me right back to where I play,” adding: “Those kids get me back to where I need to be…”

LeBron and his wife have been together since they went to high school, in Akron, Ohio. The two tied the knot in 2013, when he was 28 and she 26, with a wedding in San Diego, California.
