LeBron James’ “I Promise School” in Akron, Ohio set out to do a great thing, helping the most at-risk kids in the area get a good education.

Unfortunately, the test scores are not there.

Reports state that LeBron’s school is posting shockingly bad test scores.

“This fall’s class of eighth graders at the I Promise School hasn’t had a single student pass the state’s math test since the group was in the third grade,” the Akron Beacon Journal reported earlier this week.

It’s very discouraging.

“Not one? In three years?” Akron Public Schools board member Valerie McKitrick asked.

“It is discouraging,” said Keith Liechty-Clifford, the district’s director of school improvement.

While LeBron set out to do an honorable thing in his hometown, the results simply are not there, at least when it comes to standardized test scores.

Ohio is now concerned.

“The state has also issued its first concern about the school: Two of I Promise’s biggest subgroups of students, Black students and those with disabilities, are now testing in the bottom 5% in the state, landing the school on the Ohio Department of Education’s list of those requiring targeted intervention,” the ABJ reported.

Hopefully, progress can be made at the school, but right now, it’s not looking good.
