Is LeBron James actually going to retire?
The Los Angeles Lakers legend admitted following his team’s Western Conference Finals loss that he isn’t sure if he’ll be back for the 2023-24 NBA season.
But one of LeBron’s lifelong best friends isn’t buying it.
Romeo Travis, who played high school basketball with LeBron in Akron, Ohio, has revealed his prediction for the four-time NBA champion’s future.
“In my opinion, I don’t think he’s retiring this year,” Romeo said, per Yahoo! Sports.
One of LeBron’s other close friends, meanwhile, believes it’s seriously under consideration.
“I hope not, but I think it is really on his mind, and I think he’s really doing some soul-searching. … I think he is thinking about it,” Sian Cotton said.
LeBron is coming off another highly impressive season, despite being 38 years old.
Most of the NBA world expects LeBron to return to the Lakers for at least one more season. His oldest son, Bronny James, is set to begin his college basketball career at USC.
Perhaps LeBron will stick it out for another year or two in Los Angeles and then team up with his son, Bronny, in the NBA.
