As ESPN stunningly continues to cut a ton of its on-air talent, future Hall of Famer Vince Carter could soon be one of the next to walk out the door.
According to Front Office Sports, the former Raptors-Nets legend likely won’t be a part of this weekend’s layoffs, but Carter does have the opportunity to leave the network after his contract expires this summer.
Carter joined ESPN back in 2020 following a 22-year NBA career, and sources close to the situation believe he probably won’t be offered a new deal come September.

“He’s an expensive big name – but not on the air that much,” writes Michael McCarthy. “Plus, he works remotely most of the time. So he can’t take ‘ownership’ of studio shows such as ‘NBA Today’ or ‘First Take.'”
On Friday, ESPN said goodbye to beloved NBA analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Jalen Rose, as well as network mainstay Suzy Kolber and HOF quarterback Steve Young.
Vinsanity would certainly be a great pick-up for any show given his insight and name recognition.
Shortly after his playing days in Atlanta, he called select games for the Hawks and Orlando Magic’s respective broadcasts.
