It wasn’t too hard for Ray Allen to pick between JJ Redick and the great Larry Bird in a game of “3-Pointer For Your Life.”
Appearing on the “Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz,” it didn’t take long for the sweet-shooting Hall of Famer to go with Larry Legend.
When I grew up, Larry Bird was a killer and would talk trash about it. So a lot of my machismo comes from [Larry and Magic Johnson]. Especially if you played in the 90s and into the 2000s, that’s kind of who we modeled ourselves after. I don’t think anybody was a better shooter than Larry Bird … I pay homage to Larry Bird all day long.
A little game of A 3-Pointer For Your Life….JJ Redick or Larry Bird. Redick or Bird, shot for your life. We ask Miami Heat legend Ray Allen himself…

No slight to JJ of course, but Larry Bird was the best shooter of his time (and in some minds, of all-time).
The Celtics great played at a time when three-point shots weren’t embraced as much as today, so his 649 trey balls have been blown past by nearly every modern perimeter player at this point.
But his performance in the 1988 3-Point Shootout remains perhaps the most impressive in history and he’ll always be respected as one of the greats of his era.
