Lewis Capaldi ‘being ignored’ by Ed Sheeran over buying £1.6m mansion

Lewis Capaldi has joked that he cannot get in touch with Ed Sheeran after he offered to buy his £1.6m mansion.

The West Lothian singer bought the property two years ago, on the advice of fellow chart sensation Sheeran – but soon deemed it a “hell hole”.

He revealed in October that he had been forced to move into a flat in Glasgow while the property was gutted, after it turned out to be a “hell hole” that smells like “dog and cigarettes”.

The Someone You Loved singer also revealed he had found a bag of frogs in the house.

Sheeran, 31, then offered to take the mansion off of his hands, adding that Capaldi only had himself to blame because he viewed the house before buying it.

However, speaking on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show this week, the 26-year-old joked that he had not seen Sheeran since.

“I saw Ed saying on your show he is going to buy it [the house] off me. I’ve been chasing that man on email and nothing,” he joked.

“I haven’t seen him since.”

He also said he was struggling to convince builders to take on the project, claiming the house was now in “squalor”.

“That house is now a shell. It’s just an absolute – I’ve ripped it all out and, I’ve realised that right now it’s squalor.

“We keep on finding builders and they keep on being like ‘nah, not for us’. People are turning me down.

“I’m offering to pay them money and they’re like ‘nah, not for us, that’s not the one’, so Ed has still burdened my life to an incredible degree.”

Capaldi, 26, is currently on an extensive tour in support of his latest album, Broken By Desire to be Heavenly Sent.

A documentary charting his mental health struggles and Tourette’s journey, called How I’m Feeling Now, was released by Netflix on April 4.
