Lewis Capaldi teases unheard demo dubbed ‘best song ever’ on TikTok

Lewis Capaldi has caused a stir with millions of fans on TikTok after sharing a snippet of an unreleased demo dubbed his “best song ever”.

The star took to the social media app on Tuesday evening, posting a video captioned: “My label will go crazy if they see I’ve leaked this (they won’t)”.

Text written above his head as the track played in the background read: “Posting demos of the songs that will probably never see the light of day”.

A much faster tempo than fans are used to hearing from the Someone You Loved singer, the song stays true to his usual heartbroken lyrics: “I wanna turn back time tell you I’m wrong, don’t wanna waste my nights singing sad songs.

“I’ll spend a lifetime wishing I’d stayed, but it’s a little too late to tell you that babe.

“How could I let you fall through my hands, I should’ve held you when I had the chance.”

Fans praised the demo, with All About That Bass singer Meghan Trainor chiming in, dubbing it the “best song ever.”

However, Capaldi may be leaving many of those hoping to hear the full release disappointed, writing in a follow-up video: “I love it when people prefer demos I have no intention of releasing to songs I spend so much time recording, releasing and promoting.”

He released his latest single Pointless, written alongside his friend Ed Sheeran, early last month.

His second album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent is due to come out on May 19, 2023.
