Lexus reveals first official teaser of TX three-row SUV

Article content

Lexus in early May released its first official teaser image for its all-new TX nameplate, a three-row SUV set to join the brand’s lineup of premium offerings. The midsize sport-utility, expected to effectively be a premium version of the new Toyota Grand Highlander, will offer prospective buyers a luxury model slightly larger than the RX-L — now discontinued — but smaller than the GX and LX SUVs.

Reports indicate the new SUV will most likely be built on the same TNGA-K platform as the Grand Highlander. While it similarly also come with three rows of seats, the TX will certainly have a more elegant interior, and the newest tech and features from Lexus.

Worth considering is that the most powerful Grand Highlander has a Hybrid Max powertrain with 362 horsepower — it’s probable that some version of this configuration will also be available on the TX, perhaps with an even better output.

The teaser image shows off the TX’s “floating roof” C-pillar design and a bit of its rear door, wheel arch, and taillight. Lexus didn’t release any other information, and it’s still unclear when the SUV will officially be unveiled. It’s expected the TX will go on sale later in 2023.
