Lidl extends recall of savoury snacks due to health risk

The budget supermarket giant has extended its recent product recall from its Great Britain stores to both Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Following an urgent alert from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), Lidl withdrew a range of its Snaktastic Lentil Bites from stores.

Customers were urged not to eat a selected batch of the Sea Salt flavour snacks after it was discovered that they may contain gluten.

Advertised as “gluten-free” on the packaging, the lentil bites pose a serious health risk to people with allergies or intolerances to gluten.

While the initial recall for products purchased in British stores was issued last weekend, customers in Ireland and Northern Ireland were alerted yesterday, June 13, 2023.

Shoppers who have purchased the Snaktastic Lentil Bites in Lidl stores have been issued the following advice by the FSA.

They said: “If you have bought any of the above products and have coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to gluten, do not eat them. Instead, please return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.”

Though the recall does not affect all Snaktastic products, a wide range of batches were listed in the updated health alert.
