Limón Rotisserie’s Peruvian grilled chicken, pisco sours coming to Mountain View

Limón Rotisserie is bringing its take on Peru’s famous flame-grilled chicken, along with ceviche and pisco sours, to Mountain View — and their largest restaurant to date.

The Castillo family is taking over the 5,000-square-foot space on a prime Castro Street corner at California Street, a block from the Mountain View Center for Performing Arts, and making plans for seating for 100 customers. This will be the sixth outpost for chef Martin Castillo, who made his name at a San Francisco restaurant nearly two decades ago, opened a second S.F. spot, then started expanding to Burlingame, Walnut Creek and last year, to Oakland.

At Limón, the signature pollo a la brasa, rotisserie chicken with a crisp skin that’s served with aji sauce, is offered in whole, half or quarter bird platters. All come with two sides (tacu tacu is sauteed rice and beans, camote frito are sweet potato fries). Other popular Peruvian dishes on the menu include the lomo saltado, wok-fired beef tenderloin, the empanadas and the wide array of ceviches featuring shrimp, calamari and/or the fresh catch of the day.

Joining the traditional pisco sours at the bar are lychee- and passion fruit-infused versions, sangria, margaritas and mezcal cocktails.

Brother Antonio Castillo said the permitting process will determine the opening date. They are hoping to fire up the grills later this year or very early in 2023.
