Lindsay Lohan and her Mean Girls co-stars recreate iconic scene

Lindsay Lohan is making a comeback in a new Christmas film for Netflix – but we won’t be able to see it until next year!

The Mean Girls actor will star alongside Chord Overstreet in the untitled holiday rom-com, that will hit screens at Christmas 2022.

But already, Lindsay’s followers are beside themselves with excitement over the relaunch of her career.

Netflix US posted a snap of Lindsay and Chord wrapped up in winter warmers in front of a back drop of fairy lights and freshly fallen snow with the caption: “Just Lindsay Lohan and chord overstreet walkin’ in a winter wonderland while shooting their untitled holiday rom-com thats coming to Netflix in 2022”

Netflix fans were shocked by unrecognisable Lindsay Lohan as she makes her movie return

“What kind of parallel universe is this”, one fan wrote.

Another said: “I did not think that was Lindsay Lohan. Omg she looks amazing”

One user hit out at Netflix for the early tease: “You can’t tease me with a Christmas movie and then tell me I have to wait until 2022”

Dakota Lohan, Lindsay’s brother and model commented with three fire emojis.

It’s one of Linday’s first acting roles since she played Katerina West in Sick Note in 2018 and in horror Among the Shadows in 2019, and it’s been 17 years since Mean Girls hit our screens.

Over the years she has starred in many family favourites, with one of her earliest films being 1998’s The Parent Trap where she played the role of long-lost twin sisters who bumped into each other at summer camp.

“I was 10 when I did Parent Trap,” Lohan recalled to Rolling Stone in 2004. “I left school for eight months. When I came back, my friends were like, ‘Where’d you go?’ I said, ‘My family and I went on a long vacation.’ Then the movie came out, and they were like, ‘Um, Lindsay? That’s you in Parent Trap.’ And I said, ‘Oh, yeah. I also did this movie while we were gone.’”

Some fans said they hardly recognised her

Tragically for Lindsay she was plagued with addiction and appeared in court more than 20 times over substance abuse struggles from 2007 to 2012.

“I got arrested for my first DUI when I was 20 and they found me with drugs,” Lohan told Piers Morgan in 2013.

“And from then on the press were on me all the time. It was the first time I’d taken drugs; I was out in a club with people I shouldn’t have been with, and took cocaine, and got in the car. It was so stupid.”

She was just 10 years old when she starred in The Parent Trap

But now the star is back and ready to take her rightful place as chick flick royalty.

Chord is known for his role as Sam Evans in Glee and has also landed roles in The Middle, iCarly and The Bold Type.

The heavily anticipated film will also star Malignant’s George Young, In The Heights star Olivia Perez and US soap veteran Jack Wagner (General Hospital, Melrose Place, The Bold and the Beautiful).
