This is the third edition of the Leagues Cup with all clubs from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX (Mexico) competing in the mid-season tournament for the first time. Inter Miami, who made the big acquisition of Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this season, already won their opening game of the group stages with a 2-1 win over Cruz Azul last Friday.
It was a dream debut for Lionel Messi, who scored a late 94th-minute winner from a freekick after coming on as a substitute. The Argentine World Cup winner was also named the captain of Inter Miami ahead of their match against Atlanta United.
The match also saw another debut for arguably the best defensive midfield of the era in Sergio Busquets, who also came on in the second half with Lionel Messi. This was the first time the duo played together since Lionel Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021.
Beating Atlanta United won’t be an easy task for the star-ladden Inter Miami as the club has been in better form this season and is currently placed seventh in the Eastern Conference of MLS season with 35 points in 24 games. Miami are placed at the last spot at 15 with 18 points and five wins in 22 games.

Lionel Messi next match, Inter Miami vs Atlanta, will be played at 5 AM IST (India time) on Wednesday morning (July 26, 2023). The match won’t be Live Streaming in India due to the non-availability of official broadcasters and subsequently won’t be Live Telecast on TV as well.
