This is the third edition of the Leagues Cup with all clubs from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX (Mexico) competing in the mid-season tournament for the first time. The match also saw another debut for arguably the best defensive midfield of the era in Sergio Busquets, who also came on in the second half with Lionel Messi. This was the first time the duo played together since Lionel Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021.

Beating Atlanta United won’t be an easy task for the star-ladden Inter Miami as the club has been in better form this season and is currently placed seventh in the Eastern Conference of MLS season with 35 points in 24 games. Miami are placed at the last spot at 15 with 18 points and five wins in 22 games.
