Peter Pan & Wendy, which hits Disney+ on April 28, is described as a “reimagining of the J.M. Barrie novel and the 1953 animated classic” and the studio wasn’t exaggerating.

The story remains the same except this time Wendy (Black Widow’s Ever Anderson) is much more prominent.
Audiences are in for a rude awakening when Wendy points out one huge difference upon her first encounter with the Lost Boys.

“But you’re not all boys,” Wendy remarked, to which one of the girls replied, “So?!”
That change alone caught many people off guard, calling out Disney for its inclusive politics.

“I mean… of course…,” read one tweet.
“idc i WILL be streaming, just need them to take the girls out of the lost boys though,” one person wrote. “i’m so sorry i’m all for girl power but the whole point of the lost boys is that they’ve never seen a girl before.”
This person pointed out, “So @Disney, Peter Pan… race swapped, Tinkerbell… race swapped, Captain Hook… no keep him as a white male as the villain as they are all evil in any case.”
A third tweeted, “The diversity nonsense at Disney continues. Peter Pan is now Indian. Tinkerbell is black. The Lost Boys now have girls among them. Truly a reflection of the UK in 1911, exactly as JM Barrie envisioned.”
