Schonny Winston doesn’t want to get too caught up on the possibility of cracking Chot Reyes’ final roster for the Fiba (International Basketball Federation) World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Gilas not lacking in talent even with injuries hitting shoo-ins

Aside from home court edge and the debuting Justin Brownlee, national coach Chot Reyes is counting on the players’ familiarity with his system and whatever cohesion they have manufactured thus far when Gilas Pilipinas plunges into two Fiba World Cup qualifying games later this week.

Gilas Pilipinas is finding some sort of relief in its growing manpower woes with Jordan Heading and Schonny Winston around.

With Roger Pogoy out due to a bone bruise, national coach Chot Reyes said that the basketball program is finding solace in the two players’ recent showing in camp.

“We’ve been very impressed with how Jordan is playing. Not only him but Schonny Winston has been performing very well, too,” he told reporters shortly after the National Team’s practice at Meralco Gym on Monday evening. FULL STORY

Kelly Williams is honored with his surprise inclusion to the Gilas Pilipinas pool following the absence of key frontline players for the sixth window of the Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers later this month.
