Liverpool have already signed Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo as part of their midfield overhaul, but after Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left this summer it was decided that further reinforcements were necessary.
Klopp’s side are in a more advantageous position financially to sign Gravenberch as opposed to United, with the Red Devils wary of Financial Fair Play concerns while Liverpool were able to bid £110m and £55m respectively for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia before their moves to Chelsea.
Gravenberch has been keen to leave Bayern after making just three league starts last season as he attempts to fulfil the huge potential that was displayed at Ajax before he made the move to Germany last summer.
