The Reds lost out on a Premier League top-four berth at the end of the season 2022-23, falling behind rivals Manchester United and Newcastle. They were forced to settle for a Europa League qualification slot.

Jurgen Klopp will now look to bounce and regroup afresh for the next campaign to once again get the club to compete for major honors. In order to do so a solid pre-season campaign is required and the Reds like last summer have preferred Germany and Asia for their preparation.
The squad will link up for a training campaign in Germany where they will play two games against lower-tier side Karlsruher Furth before flying out to Singapore. Their biggest test will be on the last matchday when they will face Bayern Munich on 2nd August.
After the planned friendlies in Germany and Singapore, Liverpool are now planning at least another warmup game in England before the season-opening game against Chelsea on 13th August.
There are reports that the club are in talks with Championship side Preston over holding a friendly on August 7 although nothing has been confirmed yet. Klopp is looking to rebuild his team in the ongoing transfer window.
With Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, amongst those leaving Anfield, the core of Reds’ side will remain intact, but there could be a number of newcomers to replace the outgoing players.
The Reds have already secured the signing of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister while there are ongoing reports of Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone and Nice’s Khephren Thuram joining him in the ranks as well.
All of them are expected to move to Anfield before the friendlies. A couple of academy starlets including highly rated 17-year-old winger Ben Doak could also get a shot during the pre-season.
