Liverpool will look to continue their winning form when they host Leicester and their former manager Brendan Rodgers this week.
The Reds secured a 3-1 win at Aston Villa on Boxing Day in what was their third consecutive victory for the first time this season, to move up to sixth in the Premier League table and edge closer to the Champions League places.
Liverpool fans then got another Christmas boost as news emerged that they beaten rivals Manchester United to the signing of PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo.
In contrast, Leicester’s Christmas schedule began with a 3-0 defeat at home to Newcastle to leave the Foxes down in 13th.

Liverpool vs Leicester: Team news
Liverpool are without several stars through injury, with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo all unavailable.
Roberto Firmino and James Milner are unlikely to feature either, having missed the win over Villa with minor injuries.
Ibrahima Konate returned to training this week following his World Cup exploits but the game against Leicester could come too soon for the French defender.
The hosts will not be able to play new signing Gakpo as the game falls before the transfer window opens on January 1 but he could be unveiled at Anfield ahead of the match after the deal was finalised on Wednesday.
As for Leicester, James Maddison is among five players in the treatment room alongside Jonny Evans, Ricardo Pereira, Ryan Bertrand and James Justin.
Maddison’s knee injury worsened at the World Cup in Qatar, where he did not feature for England, and Rodgers says the playmaker is not close to a return.

Gakpo has been hailed as a superb signing, however, talkSPORT has been told it could signal the end of Roberto Firmino’s Anfield career.
“Wow, more goals,” Tony Cascarino told the talkSPORT Breakfast.
“Just think, they’ve got Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez who you’d like to think will chip in with more goals, and now Gakpo, who is only 23 years old.
“The most surprising thing about Gakpo is that he’s 6ft 4in but he’s not your traditional centre-forward. He’s very athletic, he’s very quick.
“He’s so versatile that you can play him in any position in the forward line – and that’s typical of a Klopp signing, that he likes to use certain layers in different positions.
“But, I think there will be a sad exodus for some players who have been terrific for Liverpool but have their contracts running down.
“And I think that will be Firmino in the summer [after signing Gakpo].”
