Lizzo’s Ocean Gemstone Manicure Is the Definition of Mermaidcore

Lizzo’s Ocean Gemstone Manicure Is the Definition of Mermaidcore

When Lizzo took the stage as a headline act at the Governor’s Ball on June 9, we almost expected her to break into a rendition of “Part of Your World,” given that her nails looked ready to dive under the sea and join Ariel’s family of singing sisters. The star’s manicure was giving pure mermaidcore magic with glimmering gemstones that the Little Mermaid herself couldn’t help but envy.

For the much-anticipated NYC music festival, Lizzo’s glam team pulled out all the stops, especially with that mani. Lizzo’s go-to manicurist Eri Ishizu shaped the star’s nails into medium length squovals, then covered the entire nail, base to tip, in a layer of silver chrome. Once the nails were dry, Ishizu painstakingly applied a variety of gemstones and crystals in shades of diamond white and chartreuse green. The mix of textures and colors gave the manicure an enchanting sea glass effect, like a pile of precious peridots and diamonds sparkling at the bottom of the ocean. Below, get all the exclusive details on Lizzo’s mermaid manicure straight from Ishizu.
